A tribute to the US in many ways. Congratulations.
Sadly his foreign politics are seemingly to close to Bush. |

I don't believe Obama is corporate controlled and the proof will be in his administation which will allow ACTUAL OVERSIGHT from the EPA, SEC, FCC, etc.
It's a new day!
As far a foreign policy, I don't believe he's that close to Bush. He will get us out of Iraq. Face it, between the Congressional races both this and last election as well as his overwhelming electoral college win, he has the mandate to end that war. I'm truly torn on Afghanastan. I want to hold Bin Laden and those who attacked America responsible, but history tells us that you can't contol that region. Just ask the Russians! Plus with our current economic problems, the energy crisis, the healthcare crisis and our ballooning deficit (thanks Republicans!) I'm not sure we can afford too much more war. I also believe that Obama understands the diplomacy can work and should be aggresively used. I think our relationship with Iran and even Russia can improve under the Obama Presidency. Call me hopeful, but then we just make history in this country with an inspiring, young, African-American President. Things have been bleak for awhile so it's nice to anticipate some real change in this country. |

My single piece of advice to Barack Obama would be to choose the wisest Americans from all walks of life, regardless of their political affiliation either. All
of us know that this nation faces financial peril or worse -- a very real Depression. What we must do is come up with sound plans to get this nation on a
steady source again. That will be an America that has a small Federal Government and can create a rapidly growing economy. Only true conservatives can create
this, and so Obama being elected is a complete waste of our time. He cannot afford to implement a single policy that he has set forth because we are dead
broke. This is tragic beyond my conprehension right now, yet I know that is coming after all of us!

I realize that is the Fox News talking point, but it's untrue. As far as his appointments, I realize that it's shocking that a Democrat would pick....DEMOCRATS for his cabinet, but as one of them, I'm very pleased with his choices. Unlike the right-wingers, most of us on the left thought Clinton picked a lot of good, smart people so getting some of them back is actually a GOOD thing. Plus it's a change from horrible, corrupt, inept, know-nothing Bush cronies which is HUGE. |

So the collective white guilt finally spewed forth... we shall see what it gets us.
This puts to bed the complete and utter lie that this country isn't obsessed with race. Like a friggin Jolson show without the trumpets... Shelby Steele nailed it... except of course about the "historic" outcome. This man isn't about substance of any sort - none. Well now that the monkey has been removed from whitey's collective back - lets see what the ephemeral black baby jesus actually does with the levers of power in his hands. Should be fun to watch the deeper disappointment of the leftists as bams rides swift and sure back to the middle exactly where Clinton left off.

So the collective white guilt finally spewed forth... we shall see what it gets us. If you happen to be suffering from said condition, then I do feel sorry for you. The fact is that Barack Obama managed to use the Internet and Public Funds together, as did other Democrats meant that they had much more money to work with than Republicans did for a change. Normally, this not the case; indeed it's invariably the opposite. This puts to bed the complete and utter lie that this country isn't obsessed with race. Like a friggin Jolson show without the trumpets... One African-American President--elect that you would gladly boil in oil if you possibly could, does not get this monkey off anyone's back. We totally screwed up the way in which we managed to provide African-Americans equal rights under the law as well as manner in which we chose to House them. Now, had we used the Habitat for Humanity Model, and required African-Americans to actually have to work building their own homes, then we might have seen a completely different outcome. Sadly, at that time, nobody thought about doing this in a reasonable and cost effective manner. Let's face the truth here: it takes thousands of professionals looking over those housing plans to get them drawn and then built properly using all of the shortucts that homebuilders know how to use. Nobody was interested in paying for this kind of endeavor then, but in the long run it would have been worth the cost several times over. Shelby Steele nailed it... except of course about the "historic" outcome. This man isn't about substance of any sort - none. Rubbish despite my fondness for Shelby Steele's history lessons. Of course he's about substance. It's just not substance that you wish to see implemented in America ever, and indeed, I fear that it will be impossible for him to implement as this time, because of this nation's incredibly vulnerable econonomic circumstances. I would not put any added taxation onto this fragile economy for fear of losing her for a long time to come. Well now that the monkey has been removed from whitey's collective back - ........... So you continue to say, but have put forward nothing to substantiate this allegation? I voted for Obama because I became totally disillusioned by the number and kinds of lies that the Bush Administration made. Robert Gates was a breath of fresh air to me, and I'm pleased that he is choosing to remain in office. ...........................lets see what the ephemeral black baby jesus actually does with the levers of power in his hands. Should be fun to watch the deeper disappointment of the leftists as bams rides swift and sure back to the middle exactly where Clinton left off. Not me. Despite the pain of the Clinton Administration and the degree to which the Clinton's were harrassed by the Independent Counsel Law, Clinton is the only President since Reagan was sworn in -- in 1981 to actually manage to produce a government that was headed towards being balanced. He's been the best President of the last 27 years except for Reagan himself, who truly was an inspiring human being. Why would you think that the center is the place that Progessives do not want to see again? Have you asked them about their expectations? End Part I. Part II Shelby Steele was one the most gifted Historians, that I have ever had the pleasure of reading before. But you go too far here, Tabacman, and I am not stupid enough to believe that you do not realize that these times in America are something altogether different than anything any of us alive have seen before, except those few living older goats who had to not only suffer through the Great Depression, but also had to create a Manufacturing Infrastructure that was second to none in this world. My parents helped to built the single most successful version of America to have ever existed so far, which allowed you to all but destroy. I cannot for the life of me explain how in the world you ever got this nation to eject it's Industrial base for pennies on the dollar. Now America is a Consumer society except in Hight Tech. Yet here we farm out virtually all of our production capacity to nations who use child labor for example -- something you apparently approve of people doing to their children. Note: Do you know what I think about you? You are a dog my friend, and were we to ever meet I would slam you into one of those child labor jobs and then allow you to explain to me how a Christian could ever sancition such an act, because I happen to be a Christian myself, and I believe this practice is completely immoral. That is quite simply no longer the case today, and as a result one cannot reasonably expect any single President to solve all of this nation's problems. Not even FDR and every Republican in the world could do that well. Hence, your comparison is baloney in my estimation, and I know that you know this too. That said let me give you some financial facts for one moment: When Jimmy Carter (the hapless) handed this nation's government over to Ronald Reagan, who was sworn into office in 1981, Carter left this nation was a total debt of $0.54 trillion. By the time Reagan was done it had more than doubled to well over $1 trillion, which means that Ronald Reagan could not keep his promise of balancing the budget. Still, he made Americans feel really good about being Americans once more, and after seven other Presidents had hammered the USSR before Reagan was ever elected, that piece of garbage named the USSR finally went bankrupt, something that it would have done whether Reagan was elected or not. His policies probably contributed to the speed of this collapse, but look at Russia right now. She's got oil and gas reserves in abundance in Siberia, although Putin does seem to be an old-liner KGB control freak. Empires are obsolete forms of Governance these days, and I do not foresee a time when they ever regain popularity either. That said, we've had exactly one Democratic President since Ronald Reagan was elected, and guess what he did, besides face the slings and arrows of what I call the Republican Machine, because that's precisely what it is. Clinton left this nation with a budget that was headed toward being balanced, using Social Security debt to help do so too -- a trend all Presidents have done since the program was created in the 1930s. Our true debt is now about $10.7 trillion (heading toward $11 trillion very rapidly) now, along with a humongous deficit ($1 trillion at least if not more than this), which does not include the costs of the wars were are presently fighting against Islamic Fundamentalists who have quite clearly misinterpreted their religious scriptures. In other words, Republican policy has sold off our entire Industrial base, drastically increased this nation's debt, drastically increased the size of our deficit, and the deficit does not include the costs of our wars or much of anything else either. How come you jaspers (Republicans in name so far) cannot run this nation without running up huge amounts of debt using Supply-Side economics? In 27 years your policies have all but destroyed everything that once made America truly a great nation. And you have the nerve to actually expect Barack Obama to clean up your mess? Guess what Tabacman? It's just not going to happen, and we both know it too. Don't you dare tell me that this was not done intentionally, because it could not have been designed any better to create a huge class of jobless Americans, and wreck every single structure that was created in the New Deal. It's long been known what your policy actually is, especially by Conservatives since like Liberals they too write books by the score that take us all of the way back to the early Industrial Revolution in England. At that time (1832), a fellow named Edward Bulwer-Lytton wrote a two volume book lamenting the results of the English "Poor Laws" among many other ideas of the time. In 1984 Charles Murray wrote a book named, "Losing Ground: American Social Policy from 1950 to 1980." Guess what statements Murray wrote about Welfare? Although he most definitely did not plagiarize Bulwer-Lytton, if one puts these statements together side-by-side, there is no difference in the meaning of either of them. As a result, I am convinced that Murray simply read Bulwer-Lytton's work and incorporated Bulwer-Lytton's idea into American history, given the fact that Western Europe has already fought more wars and gone through the intense experience of colonization already. Indeed, they already know what finally must happen. Note: As this point I would like to thank the men and women of the American miltary. Never before have I been as proud of any group of fighting Americans, except for those who fought in World War II. What they have accomplished in Iraq, despite three years of constant Bush, Cheney, and Rumseld mistakes -- which set them back considerally. Please read Paul Bremer's book about his time in Iraq for an incredible account and the number of orders he had to follow that he knew were wrong-headed. Facts: 1. Any idea that is more than 100 years old (likely to move higher if human beings begin living longer which should begin happening shortly) will seem to be brand spanking new, when it fact, they are merely retreaded ideas. Whoopee! Conservatives can read the works of older Conservatives from different Societies, and then steal their ideas without giving them very much if any credit. Hey, I like it all right. 2. I am going to give President-elect, Barack Obama a two year honeymoon, because he's likely to be the last Democratic President we will see for a very long time indeed. Also nobody could possibly solve all of America's problems in two terms since America is all but broke fiscally speaking directly as the result of Republican policy and nothing else either. Democrats created the most powerful nation this world has ever seen before. You will be lucky if you come close to doing that, but do not for one second believe that I do not know what you are up to here. It's as plain as any pikestaff. More of the same until Conservatives finally win out and actually beging cutting the size, scope and functions of the Federal Government. Now, if this model of America works towards America's well-being then I will owe you an apology. However, if it does not and if it's really about creating truly powerful Class distinctions, then it will be a complete failure in my estimation. Recession facts: A typical American recession is usually V shaped and looks like this: V Once the bottom has arrived, our economy tends to come back pretty quickly even when idiots abuse it so very much -- like the Wall Street vipers have of late. This World-wide recession is very likely to look like this because of Republican mismanagement of this nation's finances and governments. 1_______________________________________
Thanks a lot for quite intentionally wrecking the nation I just happen to love. Just do not ever attempt to sell me your political garbage again, because I
know where you life: you like the fact that we depend upon Child Labor. You like the fact that America has been stripped of her one great Industrial
prowess.. Well, I think it sucks something fierce because it will not and it cannot create enough high paying jobs that include benefits and so many
Americans will fare worse as a direct result of your policies. Wonderful!
Note: You have almost created a very real World Depression once again. Congratulations, but don't you dare blame this
on Obama since this Recession started in 12/07 -- George Bush's watch, not Barack Obama's even though you
liars will blame it upon him and his policies which I actually agree will very likely fail in the face of the chaos
that is to come to America's shores now. Just don't think we don't know what you rascals have done or how you did it either. America leads in
one category only -- High Tech. That's it now. While it's extremely good, it's not good enough to employ this nation to say 95% capacity.
Expect the ranks of professionals to continue to climb since that is the only way -- almost -- to insure the same kind of quality life these days. Oh,
please do stuff deregulation up your poop shoot as far as it will go, because it was the deregulation of The Glass
Speigal Act which caused this financial carnage and the sub_prime nightmare. Believe, I know when I have been used as a chump. Tell that to Phil
Gramm for me will ya? He helped write the law that blew.

Obama can't fix this cluster *&^%. The seeds of this were sown looooong before even Reagan, before Kennedy, before Eisenhower or FDR. http://video.google.com/v...474362583451279&hl=en
He gets credit from me for whatever he can do to help this COUNTRY, not his party. I am sickened as I watch hearings on the automaker's bailout request. I don't agree with rewarding their folly, but look who's demanding there be plans to protect taxpayer money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Members of the biggest pork/waste/self-centered machine on the planet. I can't believe that their mouths didn't blister with puss professing the need to protect the taxpayer. |

The truth? All of the jobs being lost today are gone and they will not be coming back. America, indeed the entire world, must undergo a complete restructuring

Edit: I cannot possible tell you how much we have missed both your wit and talent here. Suffice it to say that it's been sorely missed, but since you hope that Obama's policies fail, I believe they will. But then what does an amateur American Historian know? That's really incredibly in point of fact! God save the King or Queen! Edit: Do not waste your time and money seeing the film Australia. Both Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman are serious disappointments as actors. Mercy, but this nation can turn out some real garbage when it comes to both TV and movies. Throw them all away and read instead in your free time. You can educate yourself simply by reading books you checkout from almost any reasonably decent library. Yeah, I saw that on the boob-tube itself, in fact, about three years ago, iifc!
